I love my slow cooker and my favorite recipe is Chicken and Dumplings. I throw all the ingredients in and I can move on with my day. Today I’ll share with you this adaption of my chicken and dumplings recipe and how I get my dumplings fluffy and delicious.
CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS RECIPE
Ingredients:
Instructions:
1. Add all the ingredients in the slow cooker, set it on high for 6 hours and walk away. After 5 hours come back and this is what you have so far…
2. With tongs or a fork grab chicken breasts and chop into chunks. I try and match the size of the veggies I previously chopped. Place your chicken back into the slow cooker. Stir it up…
3. Now it is time to make the dumplings. The dumplings are almost exactly the same recipe as my drop biscuit recipe we will just add a couple tablespoons of oil instead of butter.
4. Add flour, baking powder, salt, oil and mix briefly. It’s important not to mix too much or they will be too dense.
5. Dumplings mix with a tablespoon and start adding a good size of dough gently on top of the mixture in the slow cooker.
Here is a dumpling I took out to show you what it looks like when it is done. It is light fluffy. The key to making dumplings in a slow cooker is allowing it the time to get done. Here is the pay off..
